Citizenship Ceremony at the South Florida Fair 2019

Doreen Poreba: Citizenship Ceremony at the South Florida Fair 2019

During an emotionally moving event, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) administered the Oath of Allegiance to 522 people at the South Florida Fair on Tuesday, Jan. 22. Of these, 417 became America’s newest citizens after taking the oath as part of their naturalization ceremony. These citizenship candidates originated from 65 countries.

USCIS also presented certificates of citizenship to 105 individuals who are mostly teenagers and young adults representing 25 countries. All have already derived citizenship from their U.S. parents but must take the oath to receive the certificate, which is proof of their U.S. citizenship. Generally, these individuals derived citizenship when their parent naturalized or through adoption.
